I and iTunes

It may seem hard to believe, but there was a time when the music industry had a handle on technology. But now, some gazillion illegal downloads later, it’s a struggle to find a business model that won’t be obsolete with the invention of the next i-gadget. Thankfully, there are events like the Reggae Music & Technology Expo 2010, which pools together everyone from musicians and DJs to producers, programmers, manufacturers, and more. The event promises plenty of tech talk, networking opportunities, and a new-artists showcase and also includes the Reggae Walk of Fame Induction Ceremony 2010, which will honor former Third World drummer William Stewart, the recently passed Lincoln “Sugar” Minot drummer Desmond Gaynor, and actor Paul Campbell.

The two-day event takes place Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Cinema Paradiso (503 SE Sixth St., Fort Lauderdale). Tickets cost $15 each day or $20 for both days. Call 954-525-3456, or visit fliff.com.
Fri., Sept. 10, 11 a.m.; Sat., Sept. 11, 11 a.m., 2010
