If Life Were Just a Dream…

The French philosopher Descartes once argued that life may all just be a dream we haven’t woken from yet. If that was true, then wouldn’t it be more of a nightmare? Is our idea of a dream sitting in I-95 traffic or working a nine-to-five job? Maybe our dreams just need a little more inspiration — and Natali Martinez may be able to help with just that. Martinez is a local artist whose illustrated creations are of the whimsical, pastel variety. Her first solo art show, "Day Dreaming," features dreamy subjects like friendly-looking vampires and red-cheeked dolls thinking aloud. Once you get a glimpse of some of Martinez’s work, you’ll wish Descartes was right.

The dreams begin at 7 p.m. this Saturday at Pink Ghost, located at 21 W. Las Olas Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Admission is free. Visit pinkghost.net for more details.
