If the Schtick Ain't Broken

Jim Florentine can do more than just answer the phone on unsuspecting telemarketers and mess with them. But the formula has been so successful that he’s recorded four volumes of his comedy CD, Terrorizing Telemarketers, and landed gigs on Comedy Central’s Crank Yankers and The Howard Stern Show because of it. Recently, Florentine switched gears and started harassing more unsuspecting people – and filming them with a hidden camera. The result: a DVD called Meet the Creeps. Demand for that was so high that it got a follow–up also. Volume Two was supposed to be released by Christmastime but instead was released on February 1. Fans who were mad about the delay got a surprise gift from Florentine: he left outgoing messages on their voice mail systems, thus messing with more callers around the world. Florentine shows what he can do without the help of AT&T when he brings his standup routine to the Improv Paradise Live (5700 Seminole Way, Hollywood) Thursday through Saturday. Tickets cost $15.90.
