In With The Old

Fact: This past New Year’s Eve, promises of “Out with the old, in with the new!” were shouted at top volumes around 11:59 p.m., and those were noble sentiments indeed. But let’s make one little, teeny, tiny exception with tonight’s Holiday Hangover at the Historic Stranahan House Museum (335 SE Sixth Ave., Fort Lauderdale). Besides, Stranahan House isn’t “old” in the way toxic relationships or bad eating habits are that those New Year’s declarations were made for, no! Stranahan is “old” in the way of an incredible historic piece of 1901 property. The house oozes rich Broward history and fascinating Fort Lauderdale tales of pioneers Frank and Ivy Stranahan for anyone who steps foot inside. On Thursday, the house will transform into a party destination with drinks, raffles, and eats for history buffs and revelers alike. The night is hosted by Liz Adler, Ashley Boxer, Heather Geronemus, Alyse and Mike Gossman, April Kirk, Mike Lessne, Peter Neirouz, and Mitch Taylor and is catered by Premier Beverage and Gino’s Italian Market, with live music by Chris Monteleone of Sosos. The $25 cover includes bites, drinks, and a chance at a raffle for a free, private, 25-person event at the museum. Doors open at 6 p.m. Call 954-524-4736, or visit stranahanhouse.org.
