Jokey-Oke

Sure, all your buddies think you’re funny on Friday nights when you’re stumbling through Himmarshee. That dance you do? Bah-ha! Your Chris Rock impressions? Hilarious! But try standing up in front of a tough crowd of strangers — who are "having a case of the Mondays,” no less. Monday’s the challenge — the night you really need to know how to tell a friggin’ joke if want to score laughs. Check out South Shores Tavern (502 Lucerne Ave, Lake Worth) at 8 p.m., when Hemp hosts open mic comedy. Here’s a tip: if you’re going to bomb, bomb hard. Because there’s a karaoke-esque quality attached to open mic comedy; the audience is going to enjoy people at the worst end of the spectrum as much as they enjoy the best. Either way, it’s good practice for Fridays. Call 561-547-7656, or visit southshorestavern.com.
Mondays, 8 p.m. Starts: May 17. Continues through Dec. 27, 2010
