Killer Musical

Sure, it’s got some awards under its belt. And yeah, its plot is based on real-life events. But perhaps Chicago: The Musical’s greatest significance in the age of Octomom and Balloon Boy is reminding us that media-whoring is no new thing. In Chicago, jailbirds Velma and Roxie meet in the slammer after murdering their husband and sister (Velma) and boyfriend (Roxie). Of course, a victory in court is only part of their concern, what with all the media attention. Velma hopes to use the opportunity to get her old vaudeville star back, and Roxie wants to get there in the first place. But to get to the big time, they must first leave the big house (and sing and dance a bunch). Chicago comes to the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts (701 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach) Monday through Wednesday. Tickets cost $25 to $68. Call 561-832-7469, or visit
