Lens on Delray

The Delray Beach Film Festival heats up this weekend with a plethora of intriguing documentaries, themed film days, cocktail parties, and premier events. Fans of the extreme action sports genre will want to check into Old School Square for daily screenings of films on the four S’s - surfing, skiing, snowboarding, and skateboarding — including pro-surfer turned director Mikey De Temple’s latest film, Picaresque. On Friday, documentary Interrogate This screens at 5:15 p.m. at Movies of Delray. The film takes a look into the use of psychology in the War on Terror, specifically in developing more efficient interrogation techniques for use in U.S. detention sites. Also on Friday, Know Thy Enemy, a film about an up-and-coming hip-hop star that was shot and staged in Miami, premiers at 9 p.m. at the Movies of Delray. On Saturday, the penetrating doc Spitting Game: The College Hook-up Culture delves into the world of drunken sexual encounters that pervade the college “dating” scene - it shows at 4:15 p.m., also at the Movies of Delray.

The fest runs May 19 through 24 all over Delray Beach. Tickets start at $10 for individual films and work up to the all-access Platinum Pass, going for $191.
