Life in a Cage

The perils of fighting for your rent money are legion — scar tissue, shattered bones, blood loss — but none is worse than defeat. Even though you might still score a paycheck, there’s no glory in getting dragged back home, unconscious and beaten, after a brutal third-round KO.

Witness life in a cage this Thursday when prizefighters hit Hard Rock Live (1 Seminole Way, Hollywood) for Bellator Fighting Championships XXIV. The local main event is set to star Yves Edwards and Miami boy Luis “Baboon” Palomino in a 155-pound showdown. Also on the card: a middleweight blood match between current champ Hector Lombard and ex-NFL pro Herbert “Whisper” Goodman, two girl fights — Megumi Fujii versus Angela Magana and Lynn “Lights Out” Alvarez versus Jessica Aguilar — plus the opener in Bellator’s Season 3 heavyweight tournament pitting UFC vet Eddie Sanchez against Brit beast Neil “Goliath” Grove. The brawls begin at 8:30 p.m., and tickets cost $20 to $125. Call 954-797-5531, or visit
