Mission Mash

The only mission that might be impossible is reminding the world that, before he was the proud papa of a gurgling little TomKitten, Tom Cruise was a respectable actor. And he has a movie coming out this week. Yes, before he jumped the couch, Cruise played a bad-guy-womping secret agent named Ethan Hunt. Way back in 1996, he unleashed Mission: Impossible, in which he was a spy out to stop another spy who was ruining the covers of a bunch of other spies. In the 2000 sequel, Cruise-as-Hunt returned to save the world from an infectious disease that was unleashed by international terrorists. And now, he’s back to fend off an arms dealer while trying to protect his own identity in order to protect his new wife. The good folks of Sunrise Cinemas at Las Olas Riverfront (300 SW First Ave., Fort Lauderdale) hold remedial education as they screen all three Missions Thursday during a Mission: Impossible marathon. The first film starts at 7 p.m., the second at 9:30, and the third premieres at midnight. Tickets for the trilogy cost $15; it’s $8.50 for just the new movie.
