The city of Fort “Liquordale” didn’t get its nickname for just any old reason. The patrons living here had to work hard for it, attending events like pub crawls, beer pong tournaments, and of course the Fort Lauderdale Bus Loop. The bus loop is a new kind of pub crawl where barhopping enthusiasts can sample free drinks — after buying a flat-rate ticket for the night — from an assortment of bars all while riding around town on one of the designated trolleys. This means no unsafe driving!
Back for another go-round, the Fort Lauderdale bus loop returns on Saturday. The drink-a-thon begins at 6 p.m., continuing till 11 p.m., but riders may take the trolley until midnight. The loop will travel through downtown and over to the beach, hitting such bars as America’s Backyard, Soprano’s Piano Bar, and Vibe. Check-in — where you’ll receive a checkpoint card and bracelet — is at YOLO Plaza (333 E. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale) or Las Olas Riverfront (300 SW First Ave., Fort Lauderdale). Tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 the day of, but these babies move fast, so be sure to purchase early. This event isn’t only about boozing; the proceeds go to benefit various charities, including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Covenant House Florida.
