These days, McEnery creates the kind of monsters you once believed lived under the bed; 15 years and $500 later, you might have invited them to a permanent spot inked on your arm. Colorful, squiggly, and not very threatening, McEnerys creations resemble something you might find on Adult Swim or one of those early animated MTV series. While they made great fodder for tattoos, his critters have also made their way onto jewelry, skateboard decks, and murals, as well as on canvas. This Saturday, about 10 pieces of McEnerys work will be displayed at Undergrounds Coffeehaus, a location which, in addition to serving up some of the tastiest, most-inspired brew in the city, features local artists fairly regularly.
Undergrounds Coffeehaus is located at 2743 E. Oakland Park Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. The event starts at 9 p.m. and admission is free. We suggest trying the peanut butter latte while you peruse McEnerys art, which will be on display for the next month. Call 954-630-1900.
