Move Over Comics, There’s A New Con In Town

“It’s a geeky wonderland,” says Chibi Pa: Evolution Head Organizer Jason Bailey. Whether you’re an avid aficionado of Nerf Halo Wars or a novice with a penchant for Pokémon, there’s a little something for everyone. At this Japanese Anime and cultural festival, role-players can break out their cosplay gear and suit up for “Best in Show.” Or channel their inner geisha with a kimono by Ana’s Ikimaru. Drunken Karaoke masters of all ages can showcase their skills (sorry, libations with ID only). Dancing queens can rave with DJ Kaeno or nod their head to rapper Qbasic (for the nostalgic, he rhymes over stolen riffs from old Nintendo games). So if you’re an anime geek looking to get your freak on, get your fix Friday to Sunday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel (1601 Belvedere Rd., West Palm Beach.) Games begin Friday at 5 p.m. Tickets cost $10 to $25. Visit
Fri., Sept. 4, 5 p.m.; Sun., Sept. 6, 10 a.m., 2009
