Music For Fast Drinkers

When you visit the website, you’ll find a product that punctures the bottom of beer cans to allow maximum drinkage. It’s fitting that the band Shotgun Party can probably give you just as much of a buzz, without all that pesky projectile vomiting. When you visit their site, cleverly titled, you’ll find a band that plays some of the most authentic roots music this side of the Dixie.

Hailing from Austin, Texas, this three piece conjures up images of the old south, thanks to their 1930s-style dance hall country twang. The Loretta Lynn-like vocals of Jenny Parrott add an unusual aura to the already rustic sound. Fiddling fanatic Katy Rose Cox and upright bassist Chris Crepps complement her voice well. They’ll be bringing their honky-tonk party to the Downtowner Saloon this Thursday night.

If you hastily decide to shotgun some beers during the show, make sure to tell the cab driver to pick you up at 10 S. New River Dr. E. in Fort Lauderdale. The music starts at 9 p.m., and admission is free. Call 954-463-9800.
