For the working comedian, ubiquity is the name of the game. Just ask Nick DiPaolo. In addition to touring as a standup comic, DiPaolo has been a writer for The Chris Rock Show, has appeared on sitcoms (Grace Under Fire) and talk shows (The Tonight Show), and is a regular on Comedy Central's Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, where he trades barbs with other comedians. And it's not always pretty; the self-described "Archie Bunker type" takes great pleasure in assaulting the PC crowd. Nick Griek has been known to sport a top hat and flaunt his own tail. And, as grand marshal of the Easter Bonnet Dog Parade, the furrowed bullmastiff with flaccid jowls will be followed by 100-plus pooches in pastel fedoras. Last year, bloodhound Goober Nolan marched as a golfer, complete with clubs and bag. His basset-hound sister, Belle, was swathed in artificial sod, with a golf ball and tee on her head and a flagged tail. "People were arguing over a parking space, but 125 dogs got along famously," owner Jim Nolan says. "It's a laugh a minute." Festivities get unleashed at 11 a.m. at Delray Beach's Worthing Park (150 E. Atlantic Ave.). Dignitaries award prizes to the most frou-frou and more. Think American Idol with an urban twist. Haitian-born TV and video producer Marlon Lindor is Broward's answer to Paula Abdul. The kinder, gentler critic believes that South Florida is full of untapped talent, and he's here to exploit it with a talent show at Club Pearl (1710 E. Hallandale Beach Blvd., Hallandale Beach). Every Thursday night starting at 9, "artists, producers, photographers, painters, songwriters, poets, live bands, or anyone that has something to say" is welcome to strut his stuff on-stage. The audience picks the winners, who may pocket up to $1,000 and appear on Lindor's upcoming television show, called Ipnotized. "We're trying to [air the show on] UPN 33, HTN (Haitian Television Network), Island TV and WVIB," Lindor says. The contest will be hosted by fashion designer Jay R.
