If you want to be truly “old school” about your beer consumption, take a cue from the ancient Egyptians and employ a favorite brew to treat a variety of illnesses or offer it up as a sacrifice to the gods. If that all sounds like more work than simply drinking the stuff for the pure joy of it, check out the Old School Beerfest today at the Old School Square Cultural Arts Center. At least 50 craft beers will be available to sample, including Florida favorites from Cigar City Brewing, Inlet Brewing Co., and Funky Buddha Lounge & Brewery. Ten food trucks will be on-site to satisfy your nonliquid cravings, with options like gourmet grilled-cheese sammies from Ms Cheezious or meaty eats from the Rolling Stove. The event is rain or shine, and live music is provided by the Dillengers and alt-reggae band the Resolvers. The fest is 4 to 8 p.m., and tickets cost $30 to $85 with a VIP entry available. The Old School Square Cultural Arts Center is located at 51 N. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach. Call 561-243-7922, or visit oldschool.org.
