Fans of PBS' hit lost treasures appraisals show Antiques Roadshow are really going to appreciate all the serious antiquing offered this weekend at the Art and Antique Appraisal Fair and Salon Fundraiser. It's set to go off in similar fashion as the popular PBS show, only with a local twist and with proceeds benefiting the Stonewall Museum. Presented by local art purveyors the Venetian Arts Society, this membership-based organization specializes in throwing "Art Salon"-themed events, where art enthusiasts gather for interactive experiences involving open discussion, performance, and art admiration. For this event, the Venetian Arts society is bringing in experts from Frederick Fine Art and Abingdon Auction Gallery to provide skilled pricing and assessment on everyone's lost treasures. Fair-market values will be given, and participants will have the chance to consign their items, if they are inclined to part ways with their forgotten prized possessions.
All the serious appraising happens Saturday from 2 to 7 p.m., with the Salon Social portion of the night going off from 7 to 9. It all takes place at ArtServe, located at 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. General admission is $10; appraisal fee for each item is $20. Call 954-462-8190, or visit venetianartssociety.org.
