Out to Pasture on New Year's Day

When we first saw that the hated New York Jets were the Miami Dolphins' final regular-season opponent, we were hoping it would be an epic showdown to determine the winner of the AFC East or, at the very least, the final wildcard playoff spot. That is definitely not the case now. But, even though the Dolphins aren't making the postseason, there's no reason we shouldn't beat the Jets' playoff hopes to death with a sack of batteries. New York is on the verge of missing the playoffs after two straight seasons of AFC Championship game appearances, making this a must-win for them.

If the bright spot of the 2011 Dolphins season is killing the Jets, it'll totally be worth it to head to Sun Life Stadium (2269 Dan Marino Blvd., Miami Gardens). But we know that's risky, and maybe you don't want to be stuck in traffic on New Year's Day with possibly no victory to boot. Perhaps you want to be on the beach. Perhaps you want to be on a sundeck. All those things as well as $10 domestic pitchers, $12 domestic buckets, and $5 "bombs" (served downstairs) can be found at NFL Sundays at McSorley's Beach Pub (837 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., Fort Lauderdale). The Dolphins have been a mess. The Jets, for their part, have been a mess as well. Here, you can follow suit -- and not have that long drive home. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. Visit miamidolphins.com and mcsorleysbeachpub.com.
