Some art-museum rules — like “Do Not Lick the Warhol” — are etched in stone. Others aren’t so rigid. The weekly Art After Dark program at Norton Museum of Art invites attendees to loosen up about the whole art-museum-experience thing. A cocktail hour in the After Dark Lounge encourages conversation, and live musical performances usurp the notion that a museum experience commands silence. This Thursday’s program includes a special exhibition tour at 5:30 p.m. that will explore “Sylvia Plimack Mangold: Landscape and Trees,” followed by a museum collection tour of European art at 6:30 p.m. The Helene Kaufman Duo will provide the jazzy tunes, while Café 1451 serves a three-course prix-fixe dinner and happy-hour menu. Art After Dark is 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Norton Museum of Art, located at 1451 S. Olive Ave. in West Palm Beach. Activities (excepting food and drink) are free with regular museum admission: $12 for adults, $5 for students, and free to museum members and kids 12 and younger. Call 561-832-5196, or visit norton.org.
