Paws Pound the Pavement

If one of your best friends barks or purrs, odds are you are an animal lover. And if you are an animal lover, you will not want to miss the 23rd-annual Walk for the Animals, hosted by the Humane Society of Broward County, on Saturday. The walk, which will take place in Huizenga Plaza in downtown Fort Lauderdale, located at 1 E. Las Olas Blvd., raises money for the Humane Society, helping animals find new and loving forever homes. Bring family, friends, and pooches and join in the fun from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Enjoy live music and treats, and join the walk at 10 a.m. Register online, or register on-site at 8 a.m. The event is free, but a $150 donation per individual, which includes a bandanna, a T-shirt, and a chance to win two tickets to the April 20 Rihanna concert, is recommended. Raise $500 or more and your name will be entered to win a $1,000 shopping spree at Target. Gather friends, family, and coworkers and raise a minimum of $1,500 to form a "pack."
