The satire will be uncontainable at the Parker Playhouse this Sunday night as the team behind heralded farcical news source the Onion pays Fort Lauderdale a visit. It is the first time the comedic staff from this witty periodical and website has been to our shores, so expect South Florida to be subject to their lampoonery. Seriously, the Onion crew has constructed a special segment of its show directed entirely at South Florida and all its peculiar happenings. The evening will also feature a live version of the Onion's take on the news, including its intelligent parodies of current events. The Onion crew will also give the audience an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the goings-on at the outlet's headquarters in Chicago. Local comedian Adrian Messa will be warming up audiences with his eclectic style that mixes elements of standup and comedy song performance. "An Evening With the Onion" starts at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Parker Playhouse, located at 707 NE Eighth St. in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $29.50 to $59.50, or $125 for VIP. Visit parkerplayhouse.com, or call 954-462-0222. (See also Stage, page 21.)
