Picture Perfect

Those who spend today roaming Boca Raton Museum’s “57th Annual All Florida Juried Competition and Exhibition” will discover something amazing: they can actually fall in love with a juried show. What sets it apart from the rest is the diversity of the works represented, so ticketholders see a nice mix of styles ranging from conventional to lowbrow. Even the artists participating are at varying levels of distinction; some more established, and others just emerging. All, however, “have strong local reputations” (read: indie cred), according to exhibitions curator Meg Kaplan, who describes it as “a really spectacular show.” Featuring only Florida artists, the exhibition at the Boca Raton Museum of Art (501 Plaza Real, Boca Raton) includes mixed media and video installations, photography, and life sized sculptures. There is a little something for everyone: traditional, non-traditional, conceptual, contemporary. The exhibition runs through September7th, and Wednesday hours are late, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.. Tickets range from $4 to $8. Visit www.bocamuseum.org for more details.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: July 16. Continues through Sept. 21, 2008
