Pound the Pavement

Join the fifth-annual Covenant House Florida 5K to help homeless youth on Saturday along A1A in Fort Lauderdale. The Young Professionals for the Covenant House are proud to have hosted the 5k for the past five years and hope that everyone will come out to this benefit that helps young kids and teenagers find refuge. The Covenant House serves runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth under 21, including teen parents and their babies, by providing outreach, crisis shelters, transitional housing projects, and aftercare. Since 1992, the Young Professionals for Covenant House have raised more than $1.7 million for youth. You can contribute by walking or running for a cause that will give young people a better chance in life. Registration for the race is $30 until Friday and $40 the day of the race. Participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt, refreshments, and breakfast. You can also register as a team to help raise more funds and awareness for the community. There will be an afterparty at the world-famous Parrot Lounge, located at 911 Sunrise Lane, starting immediately after the 5K. Food and drink specials will be available inside the Parrot as well. Runners/walkers will start the race at the Parrot and make their way from the south side of A1A to East Las Olas Boulevard and then north on A1A. The finish line will end back in front of the Parrot, where the afterparty will begin. The Funky Buddha Brewery will also be pouring a complimentary beer for those over 21 who are a part of the 5k.
