Pre-Saint Patty’s Shave, Anyone?

Sure, saving money from not having to buy expensive shampoo or haircuts is great on its own. But if you shave your head for charity this Saturday at Mickey Byrne’s Irish Pub & Restaurant, your hair will benefit childhood cancer research. The annual Saint Baldrick’s Day Fundraiser is worth seeing, even if you don’t have the balls to lose those silky locks in a show of solidarity — the host said last year’s event brought in $23,000 (that’s a lot of hair). And this year, 35 volunteers have collected sponsorships and signed up to have their heads shaved, including teams from the Hollywood Police Department and Joe DiMaggio Hospital nurses. So if you find yourself wavering, just down a few pints and dance along to the live music — you’ll be a cue ball in no time.

Mickey Byrne’s is located at 1921 Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood. The event begins at 4 p.m. and is free to watch, but donations are welcome. Call 954-921-2317, or visit stbaldricks.org or mickeybyrnes.com.
