Anyone who's ever been shushed by a librarian may have difficulty reconciling Friday's "Laugh With the Library, Chapter 7" event, but rest assured: It's no joke. The Delray Beach Public Library will host a casual evening of comedy to benefit its mission, though it does bear mentioning that the yuks will take place far from the solemn stacks of books. National standup comedian Tom Cotter -- the first comedian finalist on America's Got Talent and a Comedy Central veteran -- will headline the event, which also includes small bites and cocktails. Last year's fundraiser snagged more than $40,000 for library resources, and this year's proceeds will benefit child and teen programs. "Laugh With the Library, Chapter 7" is at 7 p.m. Friday in the Delray Beach Marriott, located at 10 N. Ocean Blvd. in Delray Beach. Tickets cost $150. Call 561-266-0775, or visit delraylibrary.org.
