Raise Your Colt 45's to Rising Hip-Hop Stars

Although $3 Colt 45s and Gin & Juices are incentives enticing enough to amass a crowd at Green Room's weekly Wednesday-night underground hip-hop night, Brown Bag Wednesdays, it is the topflight regional and national talent that keeps everyone coming back for more. On deck this week is hot-to-trot mix-master Shawn Chrystopher (born Shawn Chrystopher Garrett II), who rolls into Fort Lauderdale on the strength of his newest mixtape, Love Story. This MC has been setting rap blogs ablaze with scorching mixtapes, landing the attention of major players in the industry. So far, Chrystopher has collaborated with the likes of Big Sean, N.O.R.E., Dom Kennedy, and most recently Owl City's Adam Young, who tapped Chrystopher to record two verses on Owl City leadoff single "Alligator Sky." Chrystopher's "Love Story Tour" also brings a lineup of diverse openers who represent different regions of rap. Joining him will be West Philly's Sean Falyon, Atlanta's Playboy Tre, L.A.'s El Prez, and Raven Sorvino from Upland, California. This night of up-and-coming rhymers gets underway at 10 p.m. Wednesday at the Green Room, located at 109 SW Second Ave. in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $10 at the door. Women drink free until midnight. Call 954-449-1044, or visit greenroomlive.com.
