Reloaded Fish

Entering the month of May, the Florida Marlins were a team that had lost its offensive mojo. Well, nothing like a series with the Mets to fix that! The Marlins swept New York two weeks ago in a four-game series that can only be described as a good and thorough ass-denting. Dan Uggla and his Gamma Ray-fueled bat led the way with three homers in the series, while Chris Coghlan was able to climb out of his .184 slump with a pair of long balls himself. And when the Marlins' offense wasn't knocking pitches into the seats (or whatever scientists call that dark void over the Teal Monster), they were hitting the ball hard enough to cause the Mets infielders to play defense -- like a Moose hit by a tranquilizer dart. All in all, a satisfying way to break out of a slump, and a hell of a way to climb into second place in the NL East. And as luck would have it, they start a three game set Friday night against the first-place Philadelphia Phillies at Sun Life Stadium (2269 Dan Marino Blvd.). First pitch is at 7:10 p.m., and tickets start at $9. Visit florida.marlins.mlb.com.
