Guitar Hero may have started as a harmless hobby, but when Rock Band was released last year… well, things got complicated. Instead of jamming quietly on tiny plastic guitars with your friends, drums and vocals were suddenly added to the mix. Screaming “Say It Ain’t So” while your drummer banged harshly on that blue-colored snare caused a little more ruckus than what the neighbors were accustomed to. Noise complaints and eviction notices quickly followed, and soon you had to start sound-proofing the living room just to avoid interruptions from the police. Who could have predicted that playing in a fake garage band would warrant the same consequences as being in a real one?

Tell your neighbors they can rest easier this Saturday, when SFX360 and Team in Training host The Ultimate LLS Rock Band Tournament at The Inner Circle (2232 N. University Dr., Coral Springs). A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. So bring your favorite band members and prepare to compete in a rock battle like no other. For once, you’ll be able to crank your little plastic amp to 11 and blast it ’till your heart’s content. Tournament Registration begins at 6 p.m., but come early for the 5 p.m. cocktail hour (cash bar). Sorry kids, this event is for grown-up, fake rockers (21 and up). Registration is $40 per band.
