Room for Improv-ment

Sometimes the funniest part about a live comedy act is the heckling. It's not just the schadenfreude of watching some poor sap tank but the chance to shout along with the crowd. That's part of what makes improv comedy great; not only do you get to yell dumb shit at the performers but you're expected to. And you'l have plenty of opportunities to do just that Friday and Saturday at the Palm Beach Improv Jamboree. The two-day event features improv troupes local and national, including headliners Mountain Dawn (Chicago), local mainstays like Mod 27's Armando Group (Lake Worth), and nine more. Mountain Dawn members are also holding workshops on Saturday for aspiring improv comics before Saturday night's performance. The peanut gallery is not invited.

The jamboree takes place at 8 and 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the black box theater in PBSC's Humanities building (4200 Congress Ave., Lake Worth, Room HU114). Admission costs $10 to $15. Call 352-450-9150, or visit
