Flower Power, disco fever, Madonna mania, and grunge glory are in store for the ultimate fitness event on Saturday. Put on your bell-bottoms or other past-time gear to attend the Dash From the Past 5K happening in Markham Park in Sunrise. Outfits from the '60s, '70s, '80s, and '90s are welcome and encouraged for the big race/walk that starts at 8 a.m. Don't fret over being timed, because you won't be. The race/walk is an amusing and healthy event that friends and family can enjoy without the pressure of competition. You can expect this fun run to include all sorts of vendors that represent fitness and nutrition, along with two prizes that will be given away for the best costume and the best group costumes.
Not only will it be a blast from the past but you'll get a free T-shirt and a temporary mustache tattoo once you register. Then, you can also rock out to the afterparty immediately after the race/walk.
Celebrate with Rock with U Entertainment's DJ Dean Michaels while he brings you the best of the oldies and today. Get ready for a food-truck run as it storms into the mix as well. Nothing but one of the best top restaurants -- Outside of the Box -- from South Florida will be at the event. A portion of the proceeds of the event will be allocated to "A Prom to Remember," a charity that gives teens with cancer an opportunity to experience a movie-star-like prom night.
The event is $41.40 to participate in and will be held at Markham Park, located on 16001 W. State Road 84 in Sunrise. Early registration is encouraged; visit dashfromthepast.com.
