Santa! You Got My Letter!

You hate holiday shopping. Rushing from one crowded parking lot to another in search of the perfect gift doesn’t fill you with the holiday spirit — unless the “holiday spirit” is actually a potpourri of rage, disillusionment, frustration, and nervous tics, in which case, you’re Charlie Effin’ Christmas.

Sit down. Relax. Have some eggnog. We’ll share a secret with you: Crossing folks off of your list needn’t be so soul-sucking. In fact, it can be downright enjoyable, thanks to the gals at House of Vintage (123 S. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach) and its accompanying bakery, House of Sweets. See, they solved this seasonal conundrum by putting together the SugarHouse Holiday Bazaar: a one-stop shopping spree that could keep you away from the mall entirely. Today, pop into House of Vintage between noon and 6 p.m. and you’ll be greeted with free cookies and cocoa, discounts on retrowear, and a nexus of South Florida’s most accomplished crafters. Those DIY types have worked harder than Santa’s wee ones to please every peep on your wish list. Jewelry, bath and body products, collectable art, home goods galore — they’re all in one peaceful place just waiting to be pillaged. Admission is free. Now, if only Sugarhouse could keep Drunkle Ed from overimbibing at the dinner table, this Christmas would be perfect. Call 561-635-8086, or visit Sugarhouseevents.com.
