Seeing Cupid

Try as he might to perfect his aim, sometimes Cupid misses. But Saturday, Cinema Paradiso nailed the bull’s-eye by hosting two killer events. Although this weekend’s V-Day expression will focus heavily on love of the human, romantic type, there is a place for those whose true love lies in art, culture, and the creative spark. During the day, Indie Craft Bazaar will showcase a fair for quirky, DIY, and vintage crafts. It costs three bucks to peruse, and there’s free swag for the first 100 guests.

During this month’s Auteur Explosion V-Day edition, “Amore Cultura,” love of art, community, and hip-hop will reign supreme. Each month, Auteur Explosion showcases local live bands, art exhibits, short films, and the like, and today will be no different. Hosted by Neri Street, “Amore Cultura” will feature performances by Brimstone 127, Protoman, and Soulflower, DJs from the Scratch DJ Academy, urban fine art, spoken word, live paintings by Dekal, and a hip-hop documentary by Dan Perez. The event will sponsor PATH, a group dedicated to bringing positive awareness to youth on hip-hop culture. The show runs from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. at Cinema Paradiso (503 SE Sixth St., Fort Lauderdale). Admission is $5. Call 954-525-3456.
