Sew Sweet

There is not a sadder scene played out in retail existence than being stuck in a place like Victoria’s Secret, on the eve of February 14 watching panicked shoppers riffle through the picked-over underwear bins — awkwardly holding mismatched lingerie up to the saleswoman because they are vaguely their partner’s size — to find some semblance of a V-Day gift. Don’t ever be that shopper, but especially don’t be when you have something like the Indie Craft Bazaar (the huge pop-up market with unique gifts from more than 65 artists and small-batch vendors) right at your doorstep the week before Valentine’s Day. The theme for this bazaar is Sew Sweet, so expect lots of Valentine ideas along with original artwork, handmade wares, vegan treats, and repurposed vintage items. There will even be a DIY Valentine booth, so the chances of your having to make a Victoria’s Secret pit stop are nil. After you secure your V-Day purchase, stick around for $3 mimosas and $5 SweeTart cocktails, panther coffee, fortunetelling, tarot card reading, hourly raffles, and food-truck eats. Doors will be open from noon until 5 p.m. Saturday, with a $5 entry fee for adults. Arrive early with free swag bags for the first 100 guests at Revolution Live, 100 SW Third Ave., Fort Lauderdale. Visit getupandcraft.com.
