Sex, Murder, and a Few Laughs

If Fifty Shades of Grey taught us anything -- aside from the fact that mediocre prose doesn't preclude commercial success -- it's that everyone's more open to mild kink than originally suspected. The stage production Gloucester Blue weaves in plenty of sexual tension and even a bit of bondage, but with a more seasoned scribe pulling the narrative strings. The play is one of the newest works by noted playwright Israel Horovitz, father to Beastie Boys' Adam Horovitz, who contributed original sound to the play. The dark comedy incorporates sex, murder, and other titillating elements in a stately New England setting. Gloucester Blue will be performed at 7 p.m. Sunday, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and 2 p.m. Saturday through February 17. All performances are at Arts Garage (180 NE First St. in Delray Beach). Tickets cost $30 for general admission, $35 for a reserved seat, and $40 for a premium seat. Reserved tables for six people cost $190 or $220. Call 561-450-6357, or visit
Wednesdays-Fridays, 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays, 2 p.m.; Sundays, 7 p.m. Starts: Jan. 25. Continues through Feb. 17, 2013
