“She’s Dead... Wrapped in Plastic”

South Florida has all the makings of a David Lynch film — it’s an overwhelming blend of disturbing beauty and depravity that colors the landscape and populace alike. And who better to bring Lynchian surrealism to life than the local characters of Kill Miss Pretty?

Kicking off the Southeast portion of their tour this Friday, KMP will pay tribute to Twin Peaks with a double dose of live sets that are sure to have your body twisting just as much as your mind. Twin Peaks was a television drama series, which Lynch co-created, that followed the investigation of the brutal murder of the town’s homecoming queen; and in true Twin Peaks spirit, KMP guitarist Russ Rogers wouldn’t divulge too many details about what’s in store Saturday night. But he did say that the band would be dressing up as the town’s iconic residents and encouraged showgoers to join in the fun. If the theme alone isn’t motivation enough, there will be a grand prize for best dressed. Adding to the absurdity of the night, Cupcake Burlesque will tantalize the crowd during intermission with Moulin Rouge-inspired can-can dances. A $10 cover will give all viewers 18 and up full access to the spectacle, which starts at 10 p.m. at the Monterey Club (2608 S. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale).
