Stature-esque Art

A successful gallery exhibit is the culmination of senses. A good exhibit incorporates appealing visuals with key pieces from popular artists. A great exhibit reaches out to human senses of sight, smell, and touch to provide viewers with an experience that rivals a great meal. That’s what Florida Atlantic University’s gallery in Boca Raton has succeeded in doing with its “Figured Spaces: Selections From the John Morrissey Collection” exhibit. The display features 40 works, including paintings, drawings, and photographs, taken from local attorney Morrissey’s personal collection. The size of the artwork, ranging from small, intimate drawings to ten-foot-tall paintings, will remind viewers of their own stature. Many of the featured artists, like Natalie Frank, Loretta Lux, and Su-en Wong, have been featured in a host of international venues. The exhibit will be on display until February 11. Entry is free. The University Galleries are open Tuesday through Friday 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturday 1 to 5 p.m. and are located at 777 Glades Road in Boca Raton. The gallery will be closed for winter break from December 17 through January 3. Call 561-297-2966, or visit
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 1-5 p.m. Starts: Dec. 15. Continues through Feb. 11, 2011
