Class fee: $45 (members $41; advance registration required) Sumi-e, literally “charcoal drawing,” is a form of Japanese ink painting brought from China in the 12th century. Students learn to grind their own ink and execute the primary sumi-e brushstrokes to capture the beauty of flowers and bamboo. Required materials: May be purchased at the Museum Store and are listed on www.morikami.org.
