Seven-piece roots-reggae ensemble Mixed Culture is rolling the dice on South Florida and its support of roots reggae. The local island rhythm collective, based out of Hollywood, is taking a leap of faith and fronting the bill to bring down conscious dancehall sensation Lutan Fyah to Fort Lauderdale. It is a huge gamble, but the symphonic reggae troupe is eager to grow South Florida's reggae scene at any cost. Lutan Fyah's empowering riddim, chock-full of inspiring verses of unity and love, has caught fire in Jamaica, New York, and the West Coast; Mixed Culture hopes Lutan Fyah's positive message will receive as good a reception down here. Conscious dancehall acts don't come around our parts too often, but Mixed Culture hopes to change all that. So, reggae fans, come out in force and support Lutan Fyah -- Mixed Culture is counting on it... literally. The show gets under way at 8 p.m. Saturday, at Revolution Live, located at 200 W. Broward Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $15 presale, $20 day of show. Visit jointherevolution.net, or call 954-245-9472.
