Swing Back the Romance

She’ll be expecting you to impress her with something cool and creative for Valentine’s Day. What she won’t be able to predict is a soaring early start. And she’ll never guess that your plans involve trapeze action. (No, not that kind of action, gutter brain.)

The lovely circus folk at the Flying Ganoas Gym set up their rigs on Young Circle (1800 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood) last month. The space is long, like a batting cage, and a couple stories tall. The swings seem to beckon as you walk by. Give in. (Don’t worry; there’s a harness and a net. So you won’t spend Valentine’s Day in traction.) For only $50 a piece, you can buy introductory trapeze lessons (first timers fly from 4:30 to 6 p.m. today), from the well-balanced husband wife duo Julio and Gloria Ganoa. The Ganoas know their stuff; both have spent their lives performing in big name circuses, but now they’re teaching other carnival enthusiasts (that’s you) how to “fly through the air with the greatest of ease.” So call 773-398-9881, or visit www.flyingganoastrapeze.com, and swing back that lovin’ feeling.
