The Beefiest Battle in Town

Every bar, burger joint, and gastropub tries to lay claim to serving the best burger in the state, but unless they can prove it in the heat of battle, it’s really just a hollow proclamation. See which South Florida burger-braggers are willing to put their money where their mouths are tonight at the Riverwalk Burger Battle III at Huizenga Plaza in Fort Lauderdale. This showdown of the region’s top burgermakers includes returning champs Rok:Brgr and the Capital Grille, plus lots of new contenders like Charm City Burgers, Elevation Burger, Tap 42, M Bar, Lauderdale Grill, and the Grateful Palate. You’ll get tastes of more than 20 burgers and other food samples, including Chef Allen’s French fry bar. If you aren’t already experiencing voter fatigue this election year, cast a ballot for your Fan Favorite burger and help your chosen restaurant to get one step closer to bona fide bragging rights. Entry includes three drink tickets good for select adult beverages and access to a cash bar. Huizenga Plaza is located at 32 E. Las Olas Blvd. The battle is 7 to 10 p.m., and tickets cost $40 to $125. Call 954-468-1541, or visit
