The Best of Ballet

Boca Ballet Theatre is continuing its tradition of bringing the highest caliber of guest artists to perform in Palm Beach County. In its newest production, Swan Lake, New York City principal dancer Sara Mearns will guest-star in the double role of Odette/Odile (the black swan/white swan). Only strengthening her reputation as a dancer, the New York Times credits her as "the world's foremost interpreter of the double role of Odette/Odile of the last 20 years." Guests can expect Boca Ballet Theatre to re-create the pinnacles of this classic production, featuring the original choreography of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov and set to the music of Peter Tchaikovsky. Sharing the spotlight with Mearns will be guest artist Simon Ball, a principal dancer with the Houston Ballet, who will dance the role of Prince Siegfried. Swan Lake will premiere at the Olympic Heights Performing Arts Theatre, located at 20101 Lyons Road in Boca Raton, on Friday at 7 p.m. Additional dates include Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $20-$35 for adults and $10-$25 for children and seniors.
