The Comforting Nutcracker

The holidays make us stray, splurge, and sin — and why wouldn’t we, with the new year right around the corner? (New Year = fresh start; note there’s one week left.) But, hell, we got a conscience too, so today starting at 5 p.m. and running through Saturday, we offer you an event so cuddly sweet, it’ll put you right back on anyone’s goody-two-shoes list. And it'll place you directly on the well-beaten path too — this traditional, timeless classic was written in 1892. We present to you Tchaikovsky and his Nutcracker. In its 16th consecutive year, the Moscow Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker will take over the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts (701 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach). There will be two new characters: Snow Maiden and Father Christmas, and expect Cristina Terentieva, who is considered the ballet world’s prima ballerina, to dazzle you when she performs with her partner Alexei. So get ready for magic and merriment — because that’s exactly what a fairy tale will bestow upon you. Tickets cost $20 to $65. Call 561-832-7469, or visit kravis.org.
Thu., Dec. 24, 5 p.m.; Fri., Dec. 25; Sat., Dec. 26, 2009
