Alert! Alert! There has been an infestation! A bunch of artsy-fartsy types have snuck into downtown Lake Worth, erected their easels, and started painting and sculpting things! Some gallery owners settled onto the main drag, while a few artists burrowed into studios on side streets. Now, Maryanne Webber wants to out them! She's organized the Second Saturdays in Season Art Walks -- walking tours of all the creative hotspots.
Of course, there is some self-interest at work here. Both Webber and her husband own galleries in town, and yes, those are pit stops on the tour -- which, by the way, is self-guided. Start at the Mango Inn Bed & Breakfast (128 N. Lakeside Dr., Lake Worth), where you can pick up an itinerary between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Until 4 o'clock, gallery owners and artists will be stationed in their hideaways to show off their wares. This Saturday, check out the American Contemporary Fine Art Gallery, the Andrea Canham Studio, Art Link International, the Bruce Webber Gallery, the Lake Worth Art League, the Margot Stein Gallery, the Maria Karki Gallery, the Maryanne Webber Gallery, McMow Art Glass, Sydenstricker Glass, and The Station. Sister ministers to gays, and the Pope wigs out

Remember how scary it was the first time that you, as a kid, stood up to your father? Imagine standing up to the other father -- the one with the special collar! Filmmaker Barbara Rick followed a nun named Sister Jeannine Gramick around the country, where she has worked with gays and lesbians, and then to Rome, where Pope John Paul II told her to shut her trap and stop talking about homosexuality. Gramick defied him and went about her gentle ways. Check out the documentary In Good Conscience: Sister Jeannine Gramick's Journey of Faith at Cinema Paradiso (503 SE Sixth St., Fort Lauderdale).
