There comes a point in the life of a band when the dreaded h word rears its head. For those unfamiliar, that would be hiatus
. When this happens, the band either comes back stronger and more focused than before or it quietly dissolves. Fortunately, for San Franciscos Train, the former was the case after taking a three-year break starting in 2006. The result was the bands fifth album, Save Me, San Francisco
. Although Train had fallen from the Billboard charts by the mid-2000s, its purpose with Save Me, San Francisco
was to please its hometown first; it just happened that the pop charts responded favorably. Trains single Hey, Soul Sister became a Top 10 hit, proving that a little time off was all this Train needed to get back on track.
The Train arrives at 8 p.m. Thursday at Revolution Live (200 W. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale). Tickets cost $27. Call 954-727-0950, or visit jointherevolution.net.
