There comes a point in the life of a band when the dreaded h word rears its head. For those unfamiliar, that would be hiatus. When this happens, the band either comes back stronger and more focused than before or it quietly dissolves. Fortunately, for San Francisco’s Train, the former was the case after taking a three-year break starting in 2006. The result was the band’s fifth album, Save Me, San Francisco. Although Train had fallen from the Billboard charts by the mid-2000s, its purpose with Save Me, San Francisco was to please its hometown first; it just happened that the pop charts responded favorably. Train’s single “Hey, Soul Sister” became a Top 10 hit, proving that a little time off was all this Train needed to get back on track.
