Trashy and Fabulous

In the hopes of celebrating Earth Day with a bit of style, the Norton Museum of Art’s weekly series “Art After Dark” is going green for the night. For this week’s event happenings, West Palm Beach designer Kristen Alyce will present a special fashion show featuring her Garbage Gone Glam creations. Having a goal of raising awareness about our “throwaway society,” Alyce creates innovative, thought-provoking, and wearable pieces out of strictly recyclable materials. How about wearing a prom dress strictly made of Vogue and Elle magazines? Talk about one-of-a-kind! In addition to the fashion show, there will be DIY art, tea tasting, and a special performance by 2011 American Idol finalist Haley Reinhart. The evening kicks off at 5 p.m., and the fashion show begins at 7. The Norton Museum is located at 1451 S. Olive Ave., West Palm Beach. Admission to the museum is $12 for adults, $5 for students with ID — with no additional cost for the event. Call 561-832-5196, or visit norton.org.
