The Rising Action Theatre has moved to a new venue, the Sunshine Cathedral, but left its essential character as a gay hothouse unchanged. And things don’t get much gayer than in its latest play, Fit to Be Tied, about a rich guy, Arloc, with mother issues; his kidnapped and hogtied runaway boy-slave, Boyd; and said mother, a lonely and lecherous old lady who drops in to her son’s penthouse to inject an Oedipal dynamic into the BDSM-themed action. In the eye of the storm lies an unopened envelope on a table that contains the results of Arloc’s AIDS test. You can see how Fit to Be Tied could result in a roaring, racy, campy comedy — just the stuff of Rising Action Theatre.

It opens September 24 at 8 p.m. in the Sunshine Cathedral (1480 SW Ninth Ave., Fort Lauderdale). Tickets cost $35. The play runs till October 24. Call 954-561-2225, or visit risingactiontheatre.com.
Thursdays-Sundays; Fri., Sept. 24, 8 p.m. Starts: Sept. 2. Continues through Oct. 24, 2010
