During a live show recorded on the bands most recent CD, Wayward Ones, frontman Tony Bones described where the band was from as the crooked dick that hangs off this great country, called Florida. Blessed be the folks in Viva Le Vox for bringing themselves all the way back down to the tip of that crooked penis to entertain/frighten us with two evenings of their anarchic music complete with guitar, drums, accordion, washboard, bull fiddle, and florid psychosis. But theres more good news: VLV isnt coming alone it has joined forces with the Coney Island Cockabilly Roadshow. This tour has captured the carnival flavors of Brooklyns Coney Island including sword swallowers, flame throwers, burlesque dancers, and sideshow freaks galore. The road show features Jelly Boy the Clown and the Squidling Bros. Circus Sideshow, rockabilly band Jason & the Punknecks, Hickry Hawkins, the Holy Roller Sideshow, and blues-punk band Guitar Bomb.
Witness the pinnacle example of stage presence that is Viva Le Vox and the carnie spirit of the Coney Island Cockabilly Roadshow at 3 p.m. Saturday at Exit 66 (219 S. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., Fort Lauderdale). This show is free. Call 954-357-9981, or visit exitsixtysixnightclub.com. Dont take the touring acts stopover for granted, because just as quickly as it arrives, it will vanish once again into the darkness of the night.
