Vive la Revolution

Save the jokes about freedom fries and white flags for another time; today is Bastille Day, the annual commemoration of the storming of the Bastille and the de facto kickoff to the French Revolution. Raise a glass to the people’s resolve at Pistache French Bistro’s annual Bastille Day fete, which will do its best to emulate a Parisian street festival with street performers, a waiters' race, live music, cancan dancers, and plenty of patriotic decor. Executive chef Julien Gremaud will create traditional French dishes for diners who want a seated meal inside the restaurant and "street food," like crepes and pressed paninis, for anyone who wants to mingle outside among the activity. The action begins at 6 p.m., and while there's no admission fee to the festivities, snacks, dinner, and drinks come at varying costs. Pistache French Bistro is located at 101 N. Clematis St. in West Palm Beach. Call 561-833-5090, or visit
