Walk on the Wild Side

Jeff Corwin is parched from his latest exploration through the sweltering jungles of Thailand, where he successfully rescued some Particolored Flying Squirrels. He is exhausted from his recent excursion to the Galapagos Islands, where he played matchmaker to turtles desperately needing to find love in the sands lest their species go extinct. Still, Corwin soldiers on. The Animal Planet star now has his eyes on his next, riskier adventure: the Wild Life Walk at Quiet Waters Park (401 S Powerline Rd., Deerfield Beach). On Saturday at 8 a.m., animal lovers (and their scaly, furry, or hairless companions) will be head out for a grueling 1.25-mile walk through Q-Dub on a fundraising mission. The goal is to raise some scrilla for our invaluable SPCA Wildlife Center, which has been rehabilitating animals for more than 36 years. Corwin will lead the expedition through the treacherous terrain, and since he was voted one of America’s 50 most beautiful people, we can be sure that many of our community’s cat ladies will be prowling along behind him.
