There's almost nothing as debilitating as cancer. For local director Aaron Wells, learning he had the disease was a call to action. "The minute I was diagnosed I knew I had to do something. So I'm
documenting my experiences (good, bad, and ugly) in hopes of helping others
in my situation and to bring awareness to chronic problems in our health
care system that affect us all," Wells says. "I will beat cancer, with
the REC light on every step of the way."
Tonight, the Maltz Jupiter theatre will hold a celebrity benefit for Wells, whose 2008 documentary Rock and a Hard Place: Another Night at the Agora won acclaim at the Palm Beach International Film Festival. Live music, entertainment, and a raffle will greet folks who turn out to support Wells in his battle against throat cancer - as will Cooper Getschal, Avery Sommers, and star of stage and screen Burt Reynolds, who will each perform. Visit jupitertheatre.org for tickets and info.
