Whatever You Call It, It’s a Party

The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino invites one and all to the “Indian Day Celebration,” today and tomorrow at the Oakalee Indian Village in the Seminole Paradise shops. Wait — what happened to “Native American?” Isn’t “Indian” a non-PC term? We asked Mary, a Cherokee Indian visiting Fort Lauderdale, to please clarify. “’Indians’ are people in India,” she said. “I’m not an Indian. But you can say I’m a Cherokee Indian, that’s okay.” Great! That clears things up. All you really need to know is that you should go to Indian Day, bring your family, eat lots of good food, and watch traditional dancing and stuff. The Seminoles know how to throw a good party. Seminole Tribe members receive free admission; everyone else pays $10, $6 for kids. Call 954-797-5551.
